Paignton has an exciting blend of famous name stores, bookshops and antique shops and, running from the High Street all the way to the seafront, lots of seaside gift shops and amusements, which contribute to the free and easy holiday atmosphere Paignton is well known for.
If you arrive on The English Riviera in Paignton by mainline rail, you only have to cross the platform to access the Paignton & Dartmouth Railway which runs preserved steam trains along the old Great Western line through beautiful Devon countryside, with seaward views across Lyme Bay, to the terminus at Kingswear - there you may cross the River Dart by ferry to explore the narrow streets of olde world Dartmouth.
Paignton Zoo is a year round attraction for all to enjoy - meet the Zoo Keepers and their animals.
Broadsands Beach - sandy with good family facilities, easy access.
Elberry Cove - shingle secluded beach, no facilities, long walk through woodland, great for getting away from it all!
Goodrington Sands - spacious, sandy each, very good facilities, easy access.
